Quick thinking helps sunny holiday spot stay clean and tidy during busy weekend

18th August 2020

Some quick thinking and good contacts allowed Viridor to help ensure a popular holiday spot stayed clean and tidy during a particularly busy sunny weekend.

At short notice Customer Relationship Manager Duncan Chown and his team in Cornwall arranged for extra bins to be placed on Perranporth beach, in order to help the parish council cope with hundreds of tourists flocking to the area in the UK’s recent glorious weather.

Duncan said: “It’s one of the biggest and best beaches in the country, and the parish council was worried they weren’t going to be able to cope.

“We have got a good relationship with The Watering Hole pub on the beach in Perranporth – who are another of our customers – and they agreed to swap some of their bins over and lend them to the council.”

The extra bins came in handy - Perranporth beach was packed out as temperatures in Cornwall at the start of August were more than 30 degrees.

And Tatiana Cant, parish clerk for the Perranzabuloe Parish Council, was so impressed with the work she left Duncan and Viridor a five-star review on Trustpilot.

She said: “Duncan is local and this is a great example of using that local knowledge to solve a problem. Within an hour it had been sorted.

“I was so pleased with the outcome I had to write a review and get involved.”

In her Trustpilot review, Tatiana wrote: “If this hadn't been sorted we would have had a disaster over this sunny weekend.

"Duncan worked out a solution using local knowledge and saved the day - thanks loads from the Parish Council in Perranporth!”

Duncan said he and his team were delighted with the reaction of a key customer.

He said: “It was lovely to get such nice feedback. It is a team effort and we make sure we all pull together – we all try to help each other out.”
