This commitment underlines Viridor’s dedication to operating responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with
internationally recognised principles that contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive global economy.
The UNGC brings together businesses and organisations from around the world to align strategies and operations with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. By joining this global movement, Viridor affirms its commitment to embedding these principles into its strategy, culture, and day-to-day operations.
Our support for the UNGC reflects Viridor’s broader ambition to lead in sustainable resource and waste management. It complements our work to reduce carbon emissions, champion circularity, and create long-term social and environmental value.

About the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles
The UNGC’s ten principles guide responsible business conduct in the following areas:
Human Rights
• Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
• make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour
• Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
• the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
• the effective abolition of child labour; and
• the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
• Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
• undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
• encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally-friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
• Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
