Viridor is proud to announce its recent success in winning two esteemed Green Apple awards for its commitment to pollution and emission reduction, as well as its groundbreaking efforts in plastics recycling. These accolades affirm the company's dedication to building a world where nothing goes to waste, and our ongoing pursuit to revolutionise waste management practices.

The Green Apple awards, recognised globally for their emphasis on environmental excellence, commend organisations that demonstrate outstanding initiatives in environmental stewardship. Viridor's achievements in pollution and emission reduction, along with its innovative approach to plastics recycling, have positioned them as leaders in the industry.

In addition to these prestigious accolades, Viridor has also received commendation for its dedication to reducing carbon emissions.

To further solidify their commitment to sustainability, Viridor launched their first comprehensive Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy last year. The strategy outlines their ambitious goals of becoming a net-zero company by 2040 and achieving a circular economy by 2025. Viridor's recently released annual ESG report showcases the significant progress made towards these goals.

Highlights from the report include the recent acquisition of Quantafuel ASA, whose Plastics-to-Liquids (PtL) pyrolysis technology transforms hard-to-recycle polymers back to its base molecules for new plastics production, replacing fossil based virgin materials. This investment is a key part of Viridor’s commitment to achieve complete plastic circularity by 2025. The report also highlights the progress Viridor has made towards carbon capture, with ambition to develop this innovative new technology at its Runcorn Energy from Waste plant as part of the HyNet cluster.

Publishing the externally verified ESG report demonstrates Viridor’s commitment to operationalising their sustainability goals and creating tangible change. These efforts, recognised by the Green Apple awards, serve as testament to Viridor's dedication to best practise within the waste sector and reaffirms their position as industry leaders in environmental excellence. With their ambitious ESG strategy and ongoing dedication to building a world where nothing goes to waste, Viridor continues to set a powerful example for businesses worldwide.

Tim Rotheray, Director of ESG and Corporate Affairs says: "At Viridor, ESG is not an afterthought but rather the driving force behind our business. That is why we are thrilled to be recognised with two Green Apple awards and a commendation. Our annual ESG report showcases our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sound governance. Through this report, we aim to inspire other companies to prioritise ESG considerations and work collectively towards a world where nothing goes to waste."
