Jonathan joined Viridor in January 2022 as Group Programme Director with responsibility for capital project delivery.

Jonathan has 30 years of extensive project development and delivery experience across the energy and natural resource sectors, both in the UK and overseas.

He previously worked for Shell as the General Manager for Engineering and Project Excellence supporting Shell’s global portfolio of conventional upstream projects, prior to becoming USA Project Director for Offshore Wind and playing a key role in transitioning people and refocusing project processes from oil and gas towards the renewables sectors.

Prior to joining Shell, Jonathan was the General Manager for Mining Projects for ArcelorMittal, responsible for the success delivering complex new greenfield mega-projects in diverse locations such as Liberia, Canada and Brazil.

Jonathan’s early career for Blue Circle and Lafarge exposed him to a multitude of project types – ranging from brownfield upgrades, new fuel projects and environmental improvements all the way to full new cement plants in a progression of roles from senior engineer to construction and commissioning manager, to Group Project Leader.

Jonathan’s 30yr career has been split equally between UK and overseas working, with expatriate assignments in Egypt, Paris, Vienna, New Orleans and most recently in The Hague. Jonathan holds a B.Eng in Mineral Engineering and a M.Sc in Solids Handling, he is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals.
