Roger Wins National Business Finance Award

Roger Jones, Management Accountant at Viridor has been named Accountant of the Year at the Business Finance Awards 2015; a national awards scheme organised by Financial Director magazine.

The Business Finance Awards is one of the leading Awards for UK Finance Directors and Chief Financial Officers, their teams, and their suppliers. The awards recognise individuals, teams and businesses that have demonstrated success and innovation over the last 12 months. Recent winners come from organisations such as ITV, Vodafone, National Farmers Union, and Christie’s.

Roger, pictured receiving his award from awards host, TV and radio personality Colin Murray, is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). He has worked at Viridor’s regional office in Bolton for six years, working on the company’s contract with Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority. The £3.8 billion contract is Europe’s largest ever recycling and waste partnership and includes a £631 million construction programme, creating a network of state-of-the-art facilities to treat Greater Manchester’s waste. Within this role, Roger has developed an accounting management tool for Greater Manchester, which is now available to be rolled out on other large contracts nationally. Roger is currently leading his section of a major business transformation project, Project Enterprise, based at the company’s offices in Taunton.

Speaking of his success, Roger said;

“I am overwhelmed and delighted to have been given this award. Working for Viridor as the company has significantly grown and developed over the last six years has been a fantastic experience and to be recognised for a job that I greatly enjoy is wonderful. I’m very thankful to my wife Susan and my colleagues both in Bolton and in Taunton for their continued support.”
