Viridor partners with Forest Holidays to recycle more complex materials
03rd April 2019
Viridor and Forest Holidays have agreed on a nationwide total waste management contract across Forest Holidays’ 10 locations as part of a new partnership to boost recycling.
The two-year contract, which begins in April, will go beyond a collections service to offer collaboration at locations from Deerpark in Cornwall to Strathyre in Scotland, with the focus on behavioural change and an effective means of diverting a wide range of items from landfill.
Forest Holidays accommodation features 587 cabins in woodland settings with their own kitchen and access to a small café and shop and the waste management contract has been specifically designed to reflect this.
Tania Bowler, Viridor’s Commercial Manager, said: “We are pleased to be awarded this contract, it is clear Forest Holidays take their ambitions to be as sustainable as possible very seriously.
“Viridor understands Forest Holidays’ commitment to recycling goes beyond what is currently easy to recycle with a desire to include Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and more complex materials, such as mattresses and hot tubs.”
Forest Holidays Procurement Manager Mark Sheppard said “As our business grows, it is important to us that we maximise the opportunities to recycle. We believe it is important to those who enjoy our woodland holidays too, our guests want to see this environmental awareness reflected in their accommodation.”
Mark added: “The Viridor focus on education and a commitment to leading the way in recycling is completely in line with our own company ethos and we believe that is the key to a successful partnership.
“We welcome the opportunity to visit Viridor recycling centres to help our team members understand what is possible through collaboration and learn how to make it easier for our guests to recycle while enjoying their holiday.”
