Dan Cooke confirmed as Pennon Group Head of Sustainability
13th August 2018
Viridor’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, Dan Cooke, has been appointed Group Head of Sustainability for its FTSE 250 parent company, Pennon.
This is a new role within the company’s Environment & Sustainability Department and will ensure the development and delivery of a refreshed and comprehensive Group-wide sustainability strategy and performance metrics, all in support of the Group business strategy.
Dan will provide support, guidance, advice and challenge to the Group’s Executive and its operating companies and functions in their management of sustainability opportunities and issues.
Commenting on his new role, Dan said: “Sustainability is already at the heart of the Pennon business. Our vision is one of ‘bringing resources to life’ via the essential water and resource management services that we deliver for customers and communities across the UK.
“This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate sustainability in the way we do business – from an environmental, social and governance perspective. The challenge of working towards a low-carbon future, stewarding natural capital and continuing to add value for all our stakeholders is one that we are rising too.”
Ed Mitchell, Pennon Director of Environment and Sustainability, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Dan to this strategic role. Dan has held senior positions with Viridor, most recently as Director of Regulatory Affairs, and brings a depth of knowledge and experience in the field of sustainability and environmental management.
‘We aim to uphold the highest standards of corporate responsibility, for the benefit of our customers, communities, employees, suppliers and our investors, and this addition to the team will help us to continue to demonstrate that.”
