Viridor helps local stars to shine in Bargeddie

19th December 2017

Viridor, Scotland’s leading recycling and renewable energy company, has pledged its support to the much-loved local charity, Shining Stars ASN Theatre School, throughout 2018.

The charity, which is based close to Viridor’s Bargeddie site, has recently received funding from the company to purchase a newly branded van which will enable the team to travel to the schools they work with.

Viridor will also support the charity next year by running volunteer days for their staff to support the charity, as well as holding numerous fundraising events. Viridor staff at Bargeddie kicked off the fundraising early by holding a Christmas Jumper day on Friday 15 December.

Shining Stars ASN Theatre School is a theatre school for children and young adults with additional support needs.  The needs range from mild to moderate to severe and complex.  The group help these children fulfil their potential and aim to bring out the best in the young people through drama, movement and working on their social skills.

John Templeton, Logistics Unit Manager at Viridor, said: “Viridor is committed to do all that we can to support the local communities in which we work and we couldn’t be happier to be continuing our support of Shining Stars in 2018.

“It really is such a worthwhile charity as they do so much to help those with support needs. We were thrilled to have been able to donate money this year for them to purchase a van and are very much looking forward to continuing to supporting them again next year.”

Katie Slavin, from Shining Stars ASN Theatre School, said: “We couldn’t be more grateful of the support given to us by Viridor this year and are thrilled they have chosen to support us in the coming year.

“Charities like us rely on the support of businesses like Viridor and with their fundraising and volunteering we will be able to help those who really need it.”
