Colin Drummond OBE to retire from Viridor
16th October 2014
Viridor announces that its Chairman, Colin Drummond, will be retiring in the New Year.
Colin was Chief Executive of Viridor for twenty years until September 2013 and laid the foundation of its current strategy of developing its network of energy recovery facilities, working alongside its leading recycling services.
“It has been a great privilege to chair Viridor and see the construction and commencement of operation of the first tranche of its network of energy recovery facilities. It is now time for a new chairman to lead the development of the next phase of Viridor’s strategy.”
Ian McAulay, Viridor’s Chief Executive said:
“I would like to pay tribute to Colin for his outstanding leadership in building one of the UK’s most successful recycling and renewable energy companies. In particular, his vision in developing Viridor’s strategy in energy recovery has been transformational for the company and indeed for the UK waste and energy sectors.
I would also like to sincerely thank him for the guidance and support he has given me over the past year as I have taken on the formidable challenge of succeeding him as CEO.
Colin has now elected to dedicate his talents and energy to another transformative opportunity in his new role as Chair of Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. I am sure I speak on behalf of all of our employees in wishing him similar successes to those he has enjoyed over the last twenty years at Viridor.”
