Dog gets new home after Viridor volunteers' visit
19th February 2020
A day of volunteering at the Merseyside Greyhound Trust had the perfect ending for Viridor staff.
Helpers from the Runcorn ERF lent a hand with walking and feeding dogs at the site in Warrington and also mucked in to clean out the kennels and support with any other odd job as required.
But some news the day after their visit truly provided the icing on the cake.
Organiser Craig said: "The day went great. We had a break in the weather, and we had a lovely day walking and feeding the bogs.
"There was some nice news the day after too as Bandit - the dog I walked - found a new home."
The day at the kennels was one of several volunteering days which have been organised for staff during February.
On Monday, February 24 a harvest mouse survey volunteering event is taking place, organised by South West Lakes Trust at Roadford Lake in Devon.
Volunteers will attend an indoor training session before putting their skills into action, to try and learn more about the distribution of harvest mice across the county.
And on Friday, February 28, there will be a beach clean event at Westward Ho!, organised in conjunction with Keep Britain Tidy.
