Mixed recycling

Commingled recyclables

Material Recycling Facilities (MRFs) process large volumes of municipal, commercial and industrial dry mixed materials to produce a range of high quality recyclable outputs.

A combination of advanced mechanical sorting techniques and manual quality control is used to separate the materials so that they can be reprocessed into new products.

The technologies we use at our ‘next generation’ Material Recycling Facilities at Bargeddie near Glasgow, Longley Lane in Manchester, Crayford in Kent and Ford, West Sussex are now so sophisticated that we recycle over 95% of the materials that go through the plants.

All of our MRFs operate under the highest quality, environmental and health and safety standards. We supported the industry-leading Recycling Registration Standard, ensuring the quality of products from MRFs is of the highest standard, upon which the MRF Code of Practice is based.
