Landfill
Landfill services constitute a significant part of our business and can remain the best and sometimes the only economic and environmental option for the disposal of non-recyclable wastes.
We currently operate 22 sites to the highest environmental standards and hold 81 million cubic metres of consented void space, or landfill capacity.
Viridor harnesses gas from landfills in lean-burn gas engines to generate over 80MW of renewable energy.
Every Viridor landfill is subject to:
- Robust engineering for maximum protection
- Gas collection and utilisation (renewable power)
- Leachate circulation, collection, treatment and disposal
- Active pest, noise and litter control
- Strict regulation and monitoring
Our customer care, site services and weighbridge facilities are run to a consistently high standard, and we offer fast turnaround and a professional service.
Communities living near to our landfill sites are consulted and informed about the work of the sites through local community liaison groups.
