Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs) handle large volumes of municipal and commercial and industrial material to produce a range of high quality outputs.
A combination of advanced mechanical sorting techniques and manual quality control is used to separate the materials.
Viridor operates and continues to develop new MRFs across the UK, including sites in Ipswich, Bristol, Plymouth, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Peterborough, London, Taunton and Ford in West Sussex.
Our MRF in Crayford, Kent processes over 500,000 tonnes of materials every year and is one of the largest and most technologically advanced recycling facilities in Europe.
We also continue to invest in new technologies and facilities, the latest examples being two new generation MRFs in Bargeddie (near Glasgow) and Ford (West Sussex). They include custom-built automated sorting systems that segregate many different grades of paper, plastics and other materials for UK and global customers and achieve average recycling rates of 95 per cent.
Quality recyclates from all our facilities meet demanding material specifications for manufacturing customers in UK and global markets.
Masons, our MRF at Ipswich, has been awarded ‘Beacon Status’ by the government for excellence in recycling services.
