Working with local authorities and the private sector, Viridor handles all aspects of the glass recycling process from collection and reprocessing of recyclable glass to the marketing of high quality glass cullet for manufacturing.

With advanced glass recycling technology at our Bonnyrigg and St Helens facilities, Viridor continues to lead and innovate in the sector, such as the ability to recover resources from plastic PVB laminate found in windscreens.

These sites are supported by a number of depots and treatment facilities throughout the UK, which means we can handle and transport glass efficiently and with minimal impact on the environment.

Once the glass has been processed, the resultant cullet is sold for the manufacture of flat glass, fibreglass for insulation and for making new bottles and jars. Emerging applications include the use of glass in aggregates and block making for the construction industry, water filtration and abrasives.

Glass reprocessing is only sustainable when the output is of a consistently high quality that satisfies demanding specifications. Viridor prides itself on its in-built grading systems, customer care and quality control programmes.

To achieve this, quality and process control is at the centre of Viridor’s operations, and our reprocessing facilities and quality assurance hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations.
