Nearly one million tonnes of Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) is discarded in the UK each year.

Viridor has invested in new processing facilities at Perth and St Helens, and deals with all types of WEEE including TVs, fridges, computers and all other domestic appliances.

In Scotland, Viridor has recycled over 50,000 tonnes of electronic and electrical items over the last two years, recovering resources from 625,000 fridges alone. We have delivered impressive results, including a 60% year-on-year increase in recycling of televisions and small electrical items since the adoption of the WEEE directive.

At Perth and St Helens, dedicated processing lines deal with small appliances, fridges and display units, recovering over 90 per cent by volume of the inputs. The second line, which processes TVs and computer screens, is as impressive with laser cutting of cathode ray tubes to yield two different types of glass, delivering 99 per cent recycling rates

Viridor collects WEEE from Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) and other approved locations, and accepts deliveries via various road haulage contractors. We also deal with companies and councils as trade waste customers for their own WEEE.
