Viridor Laing Greater Manchester's Salford Road HWRC development offers an opportunity to improve recycling in Bolton through the better sorting of waste and will be capable of handling 15,000 tonnes of waste per year.
There will also be a new Transfer Loading Station (TLS) at the site which will receive waste materials collected by your local council from your household. The waste will then be bulked up into larger vehicles for onward transport to recycling and specialist treatment facilities. This will reduce the number of vehicle journeys on the local road network.
The new TLS building will measure 60m x 40m with a height of approximately 9m and will be capable of handling 70,000 tonnes of recyclable materials and waste a year.
The proposed opening hours for the HWRC will be 0800 to 2000 Monday to Sunday (British Summer Time) and 0800 to 1800 Monday to Sunday (Winter Time). The proposed opening hours for the transfer station will be 0700 to 1800 Monday to Sunday for waste reception.
