Viridor sponsors local football team in Suffolk
Viridor, operator of the landfill site and Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Great Blakenham, near Ipswich, has enabled a local football team to look the part on the pitch by sponsoring its new kit.
Claydon under 9’s team has received brand new kits courtesy of Viridor, one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management companies with various operations across Suffolk.
Claydon U9’s team players sported their new strip in their recent 2-1 victory against St John’s.
Kevin Gleed, parent representative and local resident, said: “We’re very pleased with the support from Viridor as it has given the kids the opportunity to play in style for a local side. It is very important children exercise regularly and playing football is a great and fun way to do it. We are extremely thankful to Viridor and sincerely look forward to a successful partnership”.
Jamie Tompkins, Viridor landfill site manager in Great Blakenham, said: “As a company operating locally, Viridor is delighted to be supporting the community in this way and wishes Claydon U9’s the best of luck in the future.”
Viridor continues supporting community endeavours including sports teams, education initiatives and events in areas close to operations and services. A total of £60,456 was provided last year for local sponsorship. For more information about Viridor’s Corporate Social Responsibility click here.
