Viridor has been nominated twice at the Chartered Institute of Waste Management Awards which will take place in early November.
Following a focus on health and safety which included a new induction video, H&S award scheme and newsletter, Viridor’s Act!On campaign has been nominated for the Health and Safety Best Practice Award.
Unfortunately, the number of fatal accidents in the waste industry is ten times the national average. A great deal of work is being done by a number of companies to promote health and safety best practice and being shortlisted for this award demonstrates Viridor’s commitment to improving its health and safety performance.
Just a few months after winning the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) Communications Award, CIWM has revealed that Recycle for Greater Manchester’s ‘Watch Your Waste Week’ Campaign has also been shortlisted for Best Communications Campaign. The campaign encouraged residents to ‘upcycle’ their clothes and to purchase quality second hand furniture.
This is the third time that the campaign has been shortlisted for an award, after it was also up for an accolade at the European Week for Waste Reduction Awards earlier this year.
Recycle for Greater Manchester is a partnership between Viridor Laing (Greater Manchester) Ltd and the Greater Manchester waste Disposal Authority, working together to change residents’ behaviour across Greater Manchester.
