Viridor takes its responsibility to protect the environment very seriously. We also recognise we have a duty of care towards those people who live or work near to our facilities. 

We will consider all the key environmental aspects of our proposed development in detail and take all necessary steps to maximise environmental and social benefits whilst minimising potential impacts

The proposed facility would reduce carbon emissions by 42 per cent - equivalent to 116 tonnes a year

It would also result in a saving of 140 additional vehicle movements if waste currently transported by rail from Edinburgh to Oxwellmains near Dunbar has to be transferred to road.

This development could see an investment of £7 million in sustainable waste management for Edinburgh and the surrounding area.

Viridor considers all constructive feedback received during ongoing public consultation on its proposals, and will incorporate comment and suggestion where appropriate.
