Location and Access

Located on the existing industrial complex at Lostock Works, off Griffiths Road, Lostock Gralam, the proposed site is approximately 2km east of Northwich town centre.

The location of the MBT facility makes best use of a redundant brown-field site previously part of a local chemical works and has excellent infrastructure already in place, fully meeting the requirements for sustainable development.

The site covers an area of approximately 4.5 hectares and is accessed via a private road from the A530.

The site is sufficient in size to accommodate the proposed development without disruption to the existing businesses operating at Lostock Works.

In addition to road deliveries of waste, the proposed facility will be serviced by a railway link that will be used as the sole means of transport for taking Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) created at the Lostock Gralam plant to the power station at Runcorn, helping to minimise the impact on local road traffic.

Existing railway sidings at the Lostock site will be re-opened with all of the recovered material produced, over 100,000 tonnes a year, moved by train.

During the construction of the proposed facility, Viridor would operate a Construction Phase Travel Plan and Vehicle Routing Plan to minimise disruption and reduce the impact on surrounding communities.
